Laura E. Lenkey, Ph.D., CCC-SLP is a graduate of Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Communication Disorders and Masters of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology. Dr. Lenkey received her Doctorate degree from Florida State University in Human Sciences. The Abby D. Speech & Swallow Center (formally The Speech & Swallow Center) has been in this area for more than 7 years now. Dr. Lenkey is a Speech-Language Pathologist certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association with more than 27 years of experience in identification, evaluation, and treatment of communication and related disorders in both pediatric and adult populations covering a full range of services, including: expressive speech & language disorders, swallowing & vocal disorders, and cognitive reorganization.

Leonard Bernard received a degree in physical therapy in 1991. He has been a practicing physical therapist in Northern Michigan since 1993. Leonard has worked with orthopedic conditions. Leonard has experience with post surgical rehabilitation, addressing inclusive coverage of joint replacement therapy (including, but not limited to: total knee, hip, shoulder replacements, etc.). Leonard uses innovative techniques when providing treatment to patients and has experienced success with increasing patient's joint mobility.
Amy L. Dubey is a pediatric Occupational Therapist. Amy graduated in 2000 from Baker College in Michigan with a degree in Occupational Therapy. She has been in practice for over 7 years in Northern Michigan. Amy's background includes experience as a physical therapy technician, a vocational rehabilitation specialist for Traumatic Brain injury, a contract Occupational Therapist for several school districts in Northern Michigan, and a current specialization in pediatrics. Amy has specialized training in Sensory Integration and is the only certified Occupational Therapist for the Interactive Metronome in Northern Michigan. Amy is also certified in administering and interpreting the Sensory Integration Praxis Test (SIPT). Her philosophy is to start with foundation skills (vision, balance, coordination, tactile) and then continue assessing to more advanced skills (gross motor, fine motor, memory cognition, planning, sequencing) needed for play, school, and community success. Amy speaks at several parent and school groups to educate and inform people about special needs of children. Amy also works with vision therapists to help children succeed.
Beth La Framboise, M.A., CCC-SLP is a nationally certified Speech-Language Pathologist through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association who has been practicing speech-language pathology for over 12 years in a variety of settings and clientele of all ages. These include skilled nursing facilities, acute and rehabilitation hospitals, outpatient, home health and private practice. She received her BA from Michigan State University in 1991 from the College of Communications. In 1996, she graduated from Western Michigan University with her Master’s Degree from the College of Audiology and Speech Sciences. She joined Dr. Laura Lenkey with The Speech & Swallow Center in 2002 and loves the variety of clients that are benefiting from speech-language services in Northern Michigan.
Cindy Malamed, M.S., CCC-SLP graduated from California State University at Northridge in 1994 with a Masters Degree in Communicative Disorders and has national certification through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. She initially worked at a hospital in Glendale, CA and split her time between pediatrics and geriatrics. Cindy then helped establish the Speech Department at an inpatient rehabilitation unit in Thousand Oaks, CA focusing on the adult population. Prior to joining The Abby D. Speech & Swallow Center with Dr. Lenkey this year, she worked as a home health therapist in both California and Texas.
Tammy Wyman, M.A., CCC-SLP is a Speech-Language Pathologist certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. She has experience working with children and adults of all ages in a variety of settings, including inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities. Tammy received a Bachelors of Science degree from Michigan Technological University in 2004 and a Masters of Arts degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Central Michigan University in 2007. She is delighted to be part of such a wonderful team of experienced and dedicated therapists.
Michelle Harrison, M.S., CCC-SLP received a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Ohio Northern University and a Master of Science in Communication Disorders from Bowling Green State University. Michelle has national certification through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. Past experience includes direct patient care for early intervention (ages 0-3), pediatric, adult and geriatric clients. Michelle has provided speech, language, cognitive, voice and dysphasia services to a variety of clients, including those with dysphasia, traumatic brain injuries, strokes, auditory impairments, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, scleroderma, cerebral palsy, moebius syndrome, autism, down syndrome, cleft palate, nonverbal language disorders, fetal alcohol syndrome, language impairments, disfluencies, phonological impairments and articulation disorders.
Theresa Crumb, Office Manger is working to finish her Associates Degree in Office Administration with a medical emphasis. Theresa has recently joined The Abby D. Speech & Swallow Center in October of 2007. Having worked her entire profession in banking and finance in the housing industry, the switch to working in the medical field has been a challenge. Theresa enjoys the change and is very excited to see the rapid growth of The Abby D. Speech & Swallow Center. Theresa is proud to be associated with this very rewarding field of practice.
